Why I Became a Holistic Practitioner: Healing the Body, Clearing the Mind, and Understanding Hidden Influences

There comes a point when many people realize they are not simply “tired” or “stressed.” Something deeper feels off. The body feels heavy, digestion is unpredictable, the mind is cloudy, emotions swing without explanation, and motivation seems harder to access.

That moment of knowing changed my life.

My own journey into wellness began after years of bloating, brain fog, and feeling disconnected from the vibrant version of myself I knew existed. Over time, I adopted a cleaner lifestyle and have now been vegan for nearly nine years. That decision transformed my digestion, my clarity, my energy, and my relationship with my body.

It also led me to a bigger truth: health is rarely one dimensional.

That realization is why I became a holistic practitioner and created Crystal Mana.

The Body and Mind Are Deeply Connected

Modern science now confirms what many healing traditions always understood: the gut and the brain are in constant conversation.

Your digestion influences mood. Your stress affects digestion. Inflammation can affect cognition. Sleep impacts hormones. Microbial balance can influence emotional regulation.

This communication network, often called the gut brain axis, helps explain why people can feel mentally off when their body is under internal stress.

Sometimes what feels like a “mind problem” may also involve the body.

The Hidden Influence of Parasites and Infections

The word parasite is often sensationalized online, but parasitic infections are real medical conditions recognized worldwide. Depending on the organism, they may affect digestion, nutrient absorption, inflammation, fatigue, and in some cases neurological function.

Some parasites have also been studied for how they may influence host behavior, mood, or cognition through immune changes, inflammation, or nervous system effects.

This does not mean parasites are controlling everyone’s mind. It means biology can influence psychology more than many people realize.

Four Organisms Studied for Mood and Behavioral Effects

Toxoplasma gondii

This parasite is one of the most discussed examples in science. It can infect humans and is often asymptomatic, but researchers have studied associations between Toxoplasma exposure and behavioral changes, altered risk taking, and certain psychiatric correlations. The evidence is complex and not proof of direct mind control, but it is a serious area of research.

Giardia lamblia

Known primarily for digestive illness, Giardia can create chronic gut disruption, bloating, malabsorption, fatigue, and post infectious symptoms. When the gut is inflamed, mood and cognition can suffer as well.

Candida albicans

Candida is a fungus rather than a parasite, but it is often discussed in gut health because overgrowth states may contribute to digestive symptoms and inflammatory stress in some individuals. Researchers continue studying how fungal balance may relate to broader wellness.

Helminth Worm Infections

Various intestinal worms have been associated with chronic inflammation, anemia, nutrient depletion, fatigue, and poorer mental health outcomes in some populations. A systematic review found higher prevalence of mental illness in infected groups studied and called for integrated treatment approaches.

Why This Matters

When the body is inflamed, nutrient depleted, sleep deprived, or under microbial stress, the brain can feel the consequences.

People may experience:

low motivation brain fog irritability anxiety fatigue poor concentration mood instability digestive discomfort

This is why holistic healing must include the body, not just the mind.

My Perspective on Food and Internal Terrain

One of the most powerful shifts in my own life came through changing what I ate.

Highly processed foods, excessive sugar, chemical additives, and low fiber diets can create an internal environment that many people do not thrive in. While everyone is different, a cleaner whole food lifestyle can help reduce inflammatory burden and improve digestion.

For me, a plant based lifestyle created more clarity, lighter digestion, and better energy.

Many people also feel better emphasizing organic produce, hydration, mineral rich foods, and reducing foods that trigger their own symptoms.

What Detox Really Means

Detox is not about extremes. It is about supporting the systems your body already uses.

The liver processes compounds. The kidneys filter waste. The digestive tract eliminates. The lymphatic system circulates fluid. Sleep repairs the nervous system.

Real detox support means:

eating nutrient dense foodsstaying hydratedmoving the bodysweating regularlysleeping deeplyreducing processed foodsmanaging stressseeking proper medical care when needed

They are offered temporary relief but not deeper understanding.

Sometimes someone needs medical testing. Sometimes they need nutritional support. Sometimes they need trauma healing. Sometimes they need rest. Sometimes they need all of the above.

Healing deserves a fuller lens.

Science and Spirit Together

I believe science and spirituality can work beautifully together.

Science helps us understand mechanisms. Spirituality reminds us to listen inwardly.

The body is always communicating. Symptoms are often signals, not betrayals.

When we honor the gut, calm the nervous system, nourish the body, and restore inner balance, people often begin to feel like themselves again.

Final Reflection

You are not meant to live in constant fog, heaviness, and exhaustion.

Sometimes hidden burdens need attention. Sometimes the terrain of the body needs renewal. Sometimes healing begins with one decision to stop ignoring what you feel.

That decision changed my life.

It is why Crystal Mana exists.
